Votoms: Haiiro no Hexe Reveals Cast, Staff for November
The Armored Trooper Votoms: Die Graue Hexe anime has announced its supporting cast and additional production staff.
The official website for the Soukou Kihei Votoms: Haiiro no Hexe (Armored Trooper Votoms: Die Graue Hexe) anime announced new cast members and additional staff on Friday. The anime will premiere as two movies, with the first one opening in Japanese theaters on November 20.
A substantial list of voice actors has joined the project. The supporting cast includes Shinichiro Miki as Alix Ballack, Yuuki Kaji as Ignis Schweinsteiger, and Yuuichi Nakamura as Fritz Gersdorf. Other notable additions are Satoshi Tsuruoka as Brunhard Müller, Tomokazu Sugita as Adrian Deisler, and Kenta Miyake as Matt Hummels. The cast also features Chafuurin as Soltig van Gunnar, Houchuu Ootsuka as Wid Hildebrandt, Daisuke Ono as Meteusz Julian Podolski, Takayuki Sugou as Weissweiler, Takahiro Sakurai as Oliver, and Sumire Uesaka as a mechanic girl.
Production Staff and Roles
The production has also expanded its crew with several key designers and directors. Original mechanical design is being handled by Kunio Okawara. A team of four artists-Shinobu Tsuneki, Yoshihiro Sono, Juu Ishiguchi, and Wataru Inata-is responsible for mechanical design. Costume design is led by Katsuya Terada.
Art design duties are shared by Satoshi Takabatake, Yasumitsu Suetake, and Kazushige Kanehira. Yuuji Honjou serves as art director, with Nagisa Abe on color design. Yuuki Kawashita is the director of photography. The CG director role is shared by Yohta Tasaki and Toshihisa Yokoshima, with Takeshi Nakajima also credited. Editing is handled by Aya Hida.
Core Creative Team
As previously announced, Mamoru Oshii is directing the anime at Sunrise, with Production I.G providing production cooperation. Oshii is also co-writing the script with Kei Yamamura. The character designs are a collaborative effort by Tetsuya Nishio, Takashi Kojima, and Shingo Ogiso. Kenji Kawai is composing the music, and Kazuhiro Wakabayashi is the sound director.
Franchise History
The Armored Trooper Votoms franchise began as a 52-episode sci-fi drama television anime that aired from Spring 1983 to Winter 1984. It has since spawned numerous OVA series and films. A prequel OVA, Red Shoulder Document - Yabou no Roots (Roots of Treachery), debuted in March 1988.
Subsequent releases include the 12-episode Pailsen Files OVA from October 2007 to August 2008, which received a movie adaptation with a new story in January 2009. Later OVAs include the five-episode Kakuyaku taru Itan (Brilliantly Shining Heresy) from 1994, the six-episode Genei-hen (Phantom Arc) from 2010, and Koei Futatabi (Alone Again) in 2011. The most recent spin-offs, Case;Irvine and Votoms Finder, were released in late 2010.
