Story and context
The new season continues the story after the conclusion of the original manga in 2023 and the 2021 anime finale. It also follows the events of the Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King movie, which premiered on June 16. This second season will cover the first of the two remaining story arcs.
Episode 1 opens with the Magic Knights preparing to rescue their kidnapped allies, including Yami. The captors are the Dark Triad. Asta and his devil, Liebe, have completed the Devil-binding Ritual and are now commencing work on Devil Union. Yuno seeks revenge against Zenon, who defeated him once before, and aims to rescue Vangeance.
Meanwhile, the magical scholar Morris is ready to open the gate to the underworld from the Spade Kingdom. Morris was previously thrown out of the Diamond Kingdom. Crunchyroll said: "In a world where magic is everything, Asta and Yuno are both found abandoned at a church on the same day."
