Matsuri Isora Announces New Fantasy Novel Curse Knight
Silent Witch author Matsuri Isora will release a new fantasy light novel, Curse Knight of Oblivion, on November 13 with illustrations by Shirotaka.
Matsuri Isora, the author of the Silent Witch series, announced a new fantasy novel on Thursday. The book, titled Bōkyaku no Curse Knight (Curse Knight of Oblivion), is scheduled to ship on November 13 and will feature illustrations by Shirotaka, known for Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation.
According to a teaser from the online bookstore e-hon, the story involves "a hidden power that is the most powerful curse." The novel is described as a "refreshing knight fantasy about a tenacious boy striving despite the odds to become a hero!"
Author's Established Work
Isora is best known for the Silent Witch franchise. The story first debuted on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in February 2020. Kadokawa began publishing it as a light novel series in June 2021, with the 12th volume released on June 10 of this year. A two-volume prequel series, Silent Witch -another- Kekkai no Majutsushi no Nariagari, was also published, with volumes shipping in December 2023 and April 2024.
Yen Press licenses the main series in English under the title Secrets of the Silent Witch. The publisher summarizes the plot, stating that protagonist Monica Everett is a powerful but extremely shy witch who uses Voiceless Magic to avoid speaking. She is tasked with a secret mission to guard a prince.
Manga and Anime Adaptations
The original novels have spawned multiple adaptations. A manga adaptation by Tobi Tana launched in Kadokawa's B's-LOG COMIC in July 2021, with its seventh compiled volume shipping on September 1. A separate manga adaptation of the prequel novels by Azu Azuko began on the ComicWalker service in January 2025, with its first volume shipping in September 2025. Yen Press also holds the license for the main manga adaptation.
An anime adaptation of Silent Witch premiered in the July 2025 broadcast cour. It aired on Tokyo MX, Tochigi TV, Gunma TV, and BS11. Crunchyroll streamed the series simulcast.
The announcement of Curse Knight of Oblivion marks Isora's next major project outside the established Silent Witch universe. The novel's release date is set for mid-November.
