Monster Strike Mera×Death Anime Announced for January 2027

Mixi has announced a new television anime adaptation titled Mera×Death: Shinigami to Boku no Ijō na Koi as part of the Monster Strike franchise. The anime series is scheduled to premiere on Tokyo MX and other stations on January 5, 2027.

Creative team and production details confirmed

Kenta Kushitani is directing the anime at Qzil.la and studio keel. He previously served as an episode director for series like Birdie Wing -Golf Girls' Story- and Shangri-La Frontier. Tadashi Sakazaki, known for his work on Zoids series, is handling character design. Masaru Yokoyama, the composer for Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans, is creating the music.

Daisuke Ōhigashi is overseeing and writing the series scripts. His past work includes Fate/strange Fake and As a Reincarnated Aristocrat, I'll Use My Appraisal Skill. The production company is Arch, with Takao Katō serving as an adviser.

Additional staff and design roles outlined

A broader team of specialists has been assembled for the project. Masayuki Honda is the props and creature designer. Ichirou Chaen is responsible for editing, and Yūya Sasaki is the musical director.

The visual and audio production involves several other key personnel.

The story begins six years after a massive, non-fatal explosion in the town of Ouma. A mysterious sphere called the 'Glass Sun' now floats in the city's sky. The boy Mera Kagari feels out of place and lives a boring life. His world changes when he meets a mysterious girl named Thirteen on his sixteenth birthday. Her encounter brings vibrant colors to Mera's previously monochrome life. Strange occurrences begin to unfold in the city at the same time.
