SSS-Class Revival Hunter Anime Premieres Winter 2027
The popular webtoon 'SSS-Class Revival Hunter' will receive a TV anime adaptation set to premiere in January 2027, with key staff and cast announced.
Production company Hayate has announced a television anime adaptation for the webtoon 'SSS-Class Revival Hunter'. The series is scheduled to premiere in January 2027, according to a press release covered by MyAnimeList.
An official website opened on Wednesday, revealing a teaser visual and promotional video. The main cast and production staff were also confirmed.
Cast and Staff
Voice actor Takeo Ootsuka, known for his role in 'Oshi no Ko', will star as Gong-ja Kim. Satoshi Hino from 'Overlord' will voice Bae Hu-ryeong.
The production team includes director Hiroaki Sakurai ('Machikado Mazoku'), scriptwriter Sayuri Ooba ('Romantic Killer'), and character designer Takahiro Yoshimatsu ('Hunter X Hunter (2011)'). Studio Fu will animate the project.
Source Material and Release
'SSS-Class Revival Hunter' is based on the web novel series 'SSS-geup Jugeoya Saneun Hunter' by Sinnoa. Sinnoa and artist Bill K began serializing the action fantasy webtoon on Naver Webtoon in December 2020.
The series has been published digitally in English by Tapas Media since March 2021. Yen Press licensed the English version in October 2024. The fourth volume was released in July 2025, with the fifth volume scheduled for December 8.
Series Synopsis
In the story, a mysterious Tower appeared, and the people who inhabit it to pursue their personal values are called "hunters." The Tower grants powerful skills to only a chosen few. Kim Gong-Ja is a weak F-Class hunter with no skills, consumed by jealousy of those blessed by the Tower.
His jealousy triggers an event where he abruptly receives an S-Class skill. This ability allows him to copy a skill from someone else-but only after they kill him. He soon tests this power on the legendary hunter known as the Flame Emperor.
As he dies, Gong-Ja learns an evil truth about the man he once admired most. He then receives another potent skill that lets him revive and go back in time by 24 hours. Gong-Ja devises a plan to travel 11 years into the past to eliminate the Flame Emperor and become the world's best hunter.
