The One Piece anime remake's key art has been unveiled, and it pays homage to the two-page color splash spread that opens the first chapter of Eiichiro Oda's original manga. This is a significant nod to the source material, and fans are eagerly anticipating the release of the remake.

The production team behind the remake is impressive, with Masashi Koizuka directing and Hideaki Abe as the assistant director. The character designers and chief animation directors are Kyoji Asano and Takatoshi Honda, respectively. The series scripts are being handled by Taku Kishimoto, with Ken Imaizumi and Shuhei Fukuda working on action animation. Release Details
The One Piece anime remake is set to stream on Netflix in February 2027, with all seven episodes of the first season available at once. The episodes will cover the story from the first 50 manga chapters, spanning around 300 minutes. Mayumi Tanaka will reprise her role as Monkey D. Luffy, providing a sense of continuity with the original anime.
Comparison to the Original Anime
According to George Wada, the president and CEO of Production I.G and president of Wit Studio, the remake will have tighter pacing without unnecessary padding, compared to Toei Animation's original anime. The remake aims to produce a similar strength and quality to Wit Studio's other anime, such as Attack on Titan and Vinland Saga. The original anime, which premiered in 1999, has a different tone and style, having aired in a children's timeslot on Sunday mornings.
The remake's announcement commemorated 25 years of the anime, and it was first announced at the Jump Festa '24 event in December 2023. The announcement stated that the anime series is adapting starting from the East Blue Saga, although it is unclear if it will cover more than that. With the release of the key art and the upcoming streaming date, fans are excited to see how the remake will turn out.
