The original manga, written by Hiwatari, was serialized in Hakusensha's Hana to Yume magazine from 1986 to 1994. It was later adapted into an original video anime series by Production I.G, which spawned a feature-length compilation and a music image video. The story follows the life of a shy girl named Alice, who moves to a big city and faces various challenges, including being harassed by her neighbor Rin. However, her life takes a dramatic turn when she is stuck babysitting Rin, leading to an unexpected tragedy.
Sequel Manga and Anime
Hiwatari has also written several sequel manga to Please Save My Earth, including Boku o Tsutsumu Tsuki no Hikari, which follows the son of two characters from the original manga. This sequel was serialized in Bessatsu Hana to Yume and Hana to Yume Plus magazines from 2003 to 2014. Additionally, Hiwatari has been serializing a new sequel, Boku wa Chikyū to Utau, in Bessatsu Hana to Yume and Melody since 2015. The original video anime adaptation of Please Save My Earth was released in North America by Viz Media, which also published the original manga.
