Bride of the Barrier Master Anime Reveals Five More Cast
Kadokawa announced five new cast members for the upcoming Bride of the Barrier Master TV anime in a new teaser video.
Kadokawa has revealed five additional cast members for the television anime adaptation of Kureha's Bride of the Barrier Master light novel series. The announcement came alongside a new teaser promotional video and a third teaser visual on Monday.
The new cast members include Kanon Takao as Hazuki Ichise, Hiroto Shimizu as Nozomi Ichinomiya, Yuzuki Tamukai as Azuha, Taihi Kimura as Aoi, and M.A.O as Miyabi. The anime will stream on Netflix and other unspecified streaming platforms.
New Cast Details
Kanon Takao will voice Hazuki Ichise, the twin sister of protagonist Hana. Hiroto Shimizu joins as Nozomi Ichinomiya, the younger brother of male lead Saku. The remaining three new cast members portray shikigami, spiritual familiars. Yuzuki Tamukai plays Azuha, a shikigami that rests on Hana's hair like an ornament. Taihi Kimura and M.A.O voice Aoi and Miyabi, respectively, both shikigami created by Hana that take human form.
They join the previously announced leads, Akari Kitō as Hana Ichise and Kikunosuke Toya as Saku Ichinomiya.
Production Team and Story
Tōru Kitahata is directing the anime at studio TROYCA. Minami Murayama is designing the characters, and Yūko Kakihara is in charge of series scripts. The music is being composed by Yukari Hashimoto, Ruka Kawada, and R.O.N.
The story follows eighteen-year-old Hana Ichise, born into a branch family of one of Japan's five barrier-weaving clans. She has always lived in the shadow of her more capable twin sister, Hazuki. When a strong power awakens within her, Hana chooses to hide it to maintain a quiet life. Her plans are complicated by Saku Ichinomiya, the new head of his clan, who seeks a bride strong enough to stand by his side. Hana tries to avoid him, but a marriage contract might offer the peaceful future she desires.
Source Material Status
The light novel series, illustrated by Bodax, began publication with Kadokawa in December 2021. The seventh volume was released on June 16, and the series has over 2.5 million copies in circulation. Yen Press publishes the novels in English through its Yen On imprint.
A manga adaptation by Odayaka launched in Kadokawa's B's-LOG COMIC digital magazine in March 2022. Its eighth compiled volume was published on July 31. Yen Press also releases the manga adaptation in English.
