Magical Girl Raising Project Stage Play Opens in January
The dark fantasy light novel series Magical Girl Raising Project is being adapted for the stage in Tokyo this winter.
The Magical Girl Raising Project light novel series is getting a stage play adaptation. The production will run from January 8 to 13, 2027, at the Owlspot Theatre in Tokyo.
Saki Nagata is writing and directing the stage play. The cast features Rino Mochizuki in the lead role of Snow White. The full ensemble includes Risa Tsumugi as Ripple, Aya Emori as Top Speed, and Fumi Taniguchi as La Pucelle. Kurumi Mamiya will provide the voice for the mascot character Fav.

The Story's Premise
Asari Endō's light novel series is set in a world where a social game, The Magical Girl Raising Project, grants a select few the chance to become magical girls. These chosen individuals gain enhanced physical abilities and magical powers. The story focuses on a district with sixteen such magical girls. The administration suddenly announces it must halve their number due to magical energy constraints. What begins as a competition to collect magical candy descends into a lethal battle for survival.
Anime Continuation and History
This stage adaptation arrives as the franchise prepares for a new anime season. The Magical Girl Raising Project Restart television anime is scheduled to premiere on October 5, 2026. It will air late at night on TV Tokyo, followed by broadcasts on AT-X and BS Fuji on October 7.
Key staff from the 2016 anime are returning for the new series. Hiroyuki Hashimoto is back as director, with Takao Yoshioka writing the scripts. Character designs are by Masako Itou, based on original concepts by Maruino. The animation studio for Restart is Synergy SP, taking over from Lerche. Minori Chihara will perform the opening theme "No tears here," while Daisy×Daisy performs the ending theme "ReMind."
The original light novel series began publication in June 2012. Takarajimasha released its 18th volume in November 2023. Yen Press publishes the novels in English. A manga adaptation of the Restart arc, illustrated by Nori-Senbei, was serialized in 2016.
