Earth Star Novel has announced a television anime adaptation of the light novel series 'Looks like a Job for a Maid!'. The announcement was made on the publisher's official website on Thursday, marking a major step for the fantasy adventure franchise.
Series background and publication timeline
The series began as a web novel by author Yasuaki Mikami, first published on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in September 2021. Earth Star Entertainment began publishing the light novel under its Earth Star Novel imprint in July 2022, with illustrations by Kinta. A manga adaptation by Ayahito Kumagai followed, launching on the Comic Earth☆Star web service in October 2022.
Story and characters
The story centers on Nina, a maid serving Count Mirkwood. Falsely accused of a crime, she sets out on a solo journey. Her reputation as a 'supermaid' precedes her, and her vast array of skills proves indispensable to everyone she meets. Her travels bring her into contact with a distinctive cast of characters. This includes Emily, a mage who cannot actually use magic; Astrid, a brilliant inventor whose experiments consistently fail; and Tien, a perpetually hungry orphan who struggles to keep food down.

The manga adaptation has also seen consistent releases, with the seventh volume published on May 13. Further volumes are already lined up for the coming months.

The announcement has sparked discussion among fans. One commenter, nachomaxo1, noted, "I sure remember Kadokawa saying that these churned out amateur web novel adaptions are failing domestically." Another user, EcchiGodMamster, suggested a reason for the greenlight, stating, "Because these were already far enough in the pipeline that they couldn't cancel them." Details regarding the anime's production studio, release window, voice cast, and episode count have not been disclosed. The ninth volume of the light novel will ship on October 15.
