A new promotional video and key visual for the Circus Collection arc of the anime 'Grow Up Show: Sunflower Circus' have been released. The arc started with the show's 10th episode, which aired on Saturday.
The story is set in the late 1950s and early 1960s during Japan's economic boom, a time when the circus was a major form of entertainment. Various circus troupes travel across Japan to perform and compete for a spot in a world-renowned festival called the Circus Collection. One troupe, the Sunflower Circus, is led by ringmaster Maria and tours Japan while facing financial struggles. Their journey changes when they encounter a circus prodigy named Mizuka Tsurumaki. The anime follows this unique show performed by young girls with big dreams.
Cast and Creative Team
Tomoka Noda provides the voice for the prodigy Mizuka Tsurumaki. Shiori Kurosaki plays Ōka Kawasumi.
Director Kanta Kamei, known for series like Oreshura and Dimension W, is helming the project. The original character designs are by Kurehito Misaki, the illustrator for the Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend light novels. Takeshi Kikuchi, the writer for Skeleton Knight in Another World, is handling and overseeing the series scripts. Animation production is a joint effort by A-1 Pictures and Psyde Kick Studio.
Music and Broadcast Details
The opening theme song "Yurari Yureru" is performed by the duo NOMELON NOLEMON. The ending theme "DAYS!" is performed by the unit Aooo.
The series first premiered on July 4 at 24:00, which is effectively midnight on Sunday, July 5. It airs on Tokyo MX and BS11 among other channels. In Japan, episodes stream first on ABEMA and d Anime Store before reaching other platforms. Internationally, Crunchyroll is streaming the anime as it airs and is also providing an English dub.
About Psyde Kick Studio
The anime is partly produced by Psyde Kick Studio, a new label established by A-1 Pictures in July 2025. The label was founded to pursue greater creative freedom using the expertise A-1 Pictures has developed. It aims to explore new animation possibilities outside existing frameworks and to challenge young creators with innovative planning and production methods.
Jun Katou, a production supervisor for the 86 and Sword Art Online franchises, serves as the label's representative. The label is reportedly working on multiple new projects.
