Aoashi Season 2 Anime Reveals Promo Video, Songs
A new promotional video for the Aoashi Season 2 anime reveals its theme songs and confirms an October 4 premiere on NHK Educational.
The staff for the Aoashi anime revealed a new promotional video for the series' second season on Wednesday. The video previews the season's theme songs and confirms a broadcast debut on NHK Educational on October 4.
According to a press release reported by Anime News Network, the opening theme song "Fortress Defense" will be performed by the band 10-FEET. Ai Higuchi will perform the ending theme song "Triangle."
Staff Changes and Returning Crew
Several key staff changes accompany the new season. Director Kazuki Yokoyama is taking over from Akira Satō. New character designers Asami Taguchi and Junko Yamanaka are joining the team alongside returning character designer Manabu Nakatake. Previous character designers Asuka Yamaguchi, Saki Hasegawa, and Toshie Kawamura are no longer credited for the second season.
Other principal staff members are returning. This includes script supervisor Masahiro Yokotani, sound director Shōji Hata, and composer Masaru Yokoyama. As previously announced, animation production has shifted from Production I.G to TMS Entertainment.
Story and First Season Background
The anime adapts Yūgo Kobayashi's soccer manga. It follows third-year middle school student Ashito Aoi from Ehime prefecture. Ashito possesses a strong soccer talent he tries to hide. His straightforward personality leads to a disaster that becomes a major setback. Veteran J-Club player and youth coach Tatsuya Fukuya then appears, sees Ashito's potential, and invites him to try out for the Tokyo City Esperion youth team in Tokyo.
The first season of the anime premiered in April 2022. Crunchyroll streamed it as it aired in Japan. For that season, Akira Satō directed at Production I.G, with Masahiro Yokotani handling series scripts.
Manga Source Material
Yūgo Kobayashi launched the Aoashi manga in Weekly Big Comic Spirits in January 2015. The series concluded with its 40th compiled book volume in August 2025. Naohiko Ueno is credited for research and original story collaboration up to the manga's 17th volume.
The manga has been a major success. It won the Best General Manga award at the 65th Shogakukan Manga Awards in 2020. The series has over 15 million copies in circulation. Titan Manga is releasing the manga in English in an omnibus format, with the first 3-in-1 volume released on June 9.
